Simple Farming Tips That Make a Big Difference

Farming like every other business needs not to be taken with levity in order to attain success.

It doesn’t even matter if one is new to the business or one has been farming for a long time.

There are 6 important tips to succeed in farming.

  1. Know-how

Practical skills and knowledge no matter how little is needed to start up a farm, farming is not an easy task as written in inks, it involves more practical.

Endeavor to acquire skills, go for training on farming. Crop production, animal and livestock rearing, good agronomic practices, soil nutrient management, feed formulation to mention a few are areas one can focus on to learn.

  1. Develop plans

As the saying goes, Failing to plan is planning to fail.

Farming without a plan is as good as wasting time.

Developing a plan will help to decide what crops you are planning to cultivate and why, when, and where to sell as well as thinking about all the activities required to make the business successful if not whatever amount of money put together in the business is a waste.

3. Be adjustable

Some of the plans made can be modified if things are not working as proposed, so don’t be afraid to make changes when necessary for the business to be successful. It’s only when you are flexible that you can be able to handle unusual challenges effectively whenever they appear.

  1. Money management

This involves saving, budgeting, investing, expense tracking, and spending.

In order to manage money wisely, you must first and foremost understand your current financial situation, then build and stick to a budget. Set your priorities right, differentiate between what to buy and what to lease.

  1. Be focused

Concentrate on the business and everything that would guarantee success.

The ability to attend to things that will help and resist distractions at all costs is said to be the gateway to any business success and farming is not exempted.

  1. Have a good support system.

Your support system could be your seeds/products suppliers such as The Seed Hub, where you are sure of getting nothing but quality seeds, crop protection products and soil nutrients that enhances productivity. Aside from this we  render technical and advisory services, following up with our customers to review and celebrate their successes. Check www.seedhub.ng

Be around professional farmers who can provide factual advice from their viewpoints, these are a group of people who can relate to your situations. Join farmers’ associations, cooperatives, and groups. This provides a good avenue to interact and exchange ideas, opportunities, and learnings.
