The SeedHub won the prize money of $2000 from the International Breweries PLC’s Kickstart Initiative after a rigorous selection process. The SeedHub didn’t just win the money but also a year mentorship program that will ensure that the company operations get bigger and better as they continue to serve more farmers. The SeedHub was represented by Mr OmoTomiwa Adesanya. The award recipients have access to carefully selected expert assistance through mentorship and coaching for a period of one year.
The SeedHub is a sister company of Agropreneur Nigeria where Premium Hybrid Seeds are sold, agricultural extension services are offered to farmers in Oyo state and beyond. The company has been renowned for their massive interest in the sales of quality farm inputs and ensuring farmers make the most of their investment. The SeedHub has been consistent in ensuring that all the farmers need for a successful planting season is sold and made available at their store at No 8, Bashorun road, Opposite Femi Specialist Hospital, Idi Ape; Ibadan.
KICKSTART is a corporate social investment by International Breweries PLC, (IBPLC) a proud part of Anheuser- Busch InBev (ABInBev) the world’s largest brewer. It aims at promoting a culture of entrepreneurship among youth in Nigeria.
The initiative has been running in the South-Western and South – Eastern zones of Nigeria since 2015. Through the provision of material and financial support, the initiative continues to encourage young entrepreneurs to develop their big ideas into sustainable businesses or expand their existing businesses. This has created socioeconomic
opportunities for young citizens between the ages of 18 and 35. The initiative avails them the opportunity to create and earn a sustainable living thus impacting the economy of their respective host communities.
The programme was first launched as a poverty alleviation initiative in South Africa in 1995 by South Africa Brewery (SABMiller) then major shareholder of IBPLC. Since then, it has also been implemented in other African countries like Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Tanzania. In Nigeria, the KICKSTART initiative is administered by the International Breweries Foundation, for the first time since inception, it will be open to applicants from all the six geo-political zones in the country.

For the selection Procedure, there was a Call for entries and application followed by a Short listing where applications were evaluated and graded based on the qulity of their application and viabilty of their business. Applications were sorted, screened and scored by Enterprise Development Centre (Pan-Atlantic University) – a renowned entrepreneurship training centre with in-depth experience in online application portal management.
This was followed by a 5 days Online training. The online training is aimed at laying a solid foundation on the rudiments of owning a business enterprise or running one. Applicants will be tested and further shortlisted for the boot camp phase.The Bootcamp helped to further train the shortlisted for 3 days on how they can develop and manage a sustainable business. The boot camp also prepared applicants for the final selection phase –which was a pitch session in front of a panel of judges.
Practicing entreprenuers were invited to have inspiring and motivational sessions with these applicants at the boot camp. These entreprenuers also shared real life business experiences.
The Pitch fest sealed the deal.
The SeedHub Representative in person of Mr OmoTomiwa Adesanya defended the company gallantly by making an eloquent defense of the Business plan to a panel of Judges.
The assessment of presentation was based on scalability, practicability and sustainability.
On Thursday the 28th of November, 2019; the money was disbursed to the Star Company amongst other companies: The Seed Hub.

So far, Under the Kickstart Initiative, Funds in tune of N271.129M has been invested, there has been 680 Beneficiaries, N334.670M initial capital, Projected revenue is N526.754M, 571 jobs has been generated, job projection is 1,392 .
